Rødsand 2 was commissioned in October 2010 and is situated south of the Danish island of Lolland in the Baltic Sea, approximately ten kilometres southeast of Rødbyhavn. With an installed capacity of 207 MW, this offshore wind farm supplies 146,609 Danish households with green energy.

The 90 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each are laid out in 18 units in five rows, which are curved towards the coast and cover an area of 34 km². The turbines have a tower height of 68.5 metres and a rotor diameter of 93 metres. Their total height is 115 metres. The turbines were installed at a water depth of 8 metres and the annual CO2 emission savings amount to 296,296 tonnes.

The wind farm with an investment volume of 400 million euros was commissioned in October 2010. Other wind farms in the RWE fleet and newer projects were modelled on this wind farm that has already been in operation for several years.

The project benefits from an ideal offshore combination: plenty of wind, near the coast, relatively shallow waters with low tides and good ground conditions on the seabed of the Baltic Sea.
The individual turbines are linked to the transformer station via 75 km of submarine cables. From there, a 40 km cable brings the electricity onshore where it is fed into the Danish power grid.

Since 80% of the shares were sold in 2013, RWE holds a 20% minority stake in the wind farm and is solely responsible for its operation and maintenance.
